Dating Out of Your League

Finding a Girlfriend No Comments

Many times when we meet people we find attractive, we assume they are out of our league. This isn’t always the case, and this thinking can shut out potential mates. If you meet someone that you like, but assume they are out of your league, here are a few things you can do to break the ice.

Be Yourself

Don’t try to pretend to be someone you aren’t just to win someone over. This inevitably makes things worse later when they figure out you presented yourself as something other than you are. In the long run, the job you hold and the education you received won’t matter a lot when it comes to a relationship if the other person genuinely likes who you are as a person.

Know When to Back Off

It’s going to happen. You’re going to run in to someone who you really want to talk with and they just aren’t going to be receptive. Pushing the issue won’t get you any further. If someone appears to be unapproachable, it’s best not to waste your time. It’s also important to understand that not everyone is going to be open to talking to strangers. This doesn’t mean someone is out of your league, it only means you may want to find someone else to approach.

Find a Point of Interest

You don’t have to lie to someone to have a good conversation starter. Know that you should stay away from topics that have anything to do with politics or religion, but you can find something in the local news that everyone has an opinion about. You could also find something interesting that has happened to you personally. Be sure you give the other person time to talk about themselves, and just enjoy the conversation. You would be surprised to see just how easy it is to grab the attention of someone you would have thought was beyond you.
